Hello! We are Brasscals - a street brass band and family of musicians founded in Santa Barbara, California. We exist to
unite people through a shared love of music and spark curiosity and joy everywhere we go with our infectious energy,
unexpected diversity, eclectic music . … and always a few tricks up our sleeve.
Our mission as a member-run organization is to leverage music as a powerful tool for human connection,
self-expression, education, community enrichment, and above all, contagious FUN.
We aim to demonstrate this through action within the communities of Santa Barbara and beyond.

Our Story
The concept of Brasscals was born in a city park in the early morning hours after a Bike DeLights social bike ride, when Antoine and Maria discovered their shared love of street brass bands and decided to create one in Santa Barbara. The band started out in January 2022, rehearsing in Alameda Park. Some musicians found the band by word of mouth, and others found it just by stumbling upon the rehearsals in the park. The motley crew of musicians drawn to the project are what makes the band special. Check out the musician bios to get to know who we are and what we’re up to.
